For some, Twitter is a way to constantly annoy. For others, it’s a way to keep a pulse on what’s going on. Local radio host Jimmie Kaska has been doing both, in full force, for quite some time. Hosting The Water Cooler weekdays at 5pm on Sports Radio 1400, Jimmy said he first used Twitter as a free wire service for sports news. And now he is approaching 10,000 tweets. Kaska said there’s no real inspiration behind it. “I know it annoys a lot of people who follow my account, because I can go on 15-tweet rants about the most insane things in the world,” he said. Kaska often embraces the 140-character limit to discuss sport and radio-related subjects. He dedicated his 7,000th tweet to Living Room Coffee House, his 9,000th to V1, and is open to suggestions for the milestone 10,000th. Many are involved in a social network of some sort, but Twitter allows more simplicity. “You can only see at most one picture of me doing something that work and/or my grandma wouldn’t approve of, like hanging out in the bars in Texas.” Though many complain of his volume of tweets, Kaska said they’re gonna keep coming.
