Nine Hours of Bluegrass at Burger King

The Burger King on the corner of London and Golf roads in Eau Claire is slated to be the site of a marathon nine-hour bluegrass jam session. Thanks to at least 20 area musicians willing to donate their time and energy to play from noon to 9pm on Feb. 27, locals will be able to enjoy a full work day’s worth of music. Meanwhile, the Fisher House – which provides families of servicemen/women shelter while visiting loved ones at military hospitals – hopes to raise at least $1,000 (the group’s goal for the first Wisconsin session). Organizer and musician Mary Pimblett explains the Eau Claire jam is part of a nationwide effort. “I’ve been playing music for 30 years, and it’s great to be doing it for a good cause,” she says. “These allow families of service people to be near their relatives when they need them the most … and they don’t go broke doing it.” Get more information on the session, which is still accepting players,  by calling Pimblett at 828-1655.
