Mabel Tainter Featured in Opera House Book
Not only has the Mabel Tainter been restored, but its features now grace the cover of the new book Encore! The Renaissance of Wisconsin Opera Houses. The famous Menomonie theater is among 10 other theaters in Wisconsin to be featured in the new book by Brian Leahy Doyle, a faculty member at Lehman College and City University of New York. The book, commissioned by the Wisconsin Historical Society Press, is a tour of sorts of Wisconsin’s best-restored opera houses, with Eau Claire’s own Mark Fay providing the photography. Encore! is the second in a series, following the state’s historic gas stations and preceding the state’s historic barns. A collection of Fay’s images are on display at Mabel Tainter through the end of November, and the book is available at Borders, Amazon, and the Wisconsin Historical Society.
