Summer's Final Music Festival

Fall Roots Fest features eight bands over three days

Tyler Griggs |

So the summer’s over and all the fun local music festivals have long transpired, right? You might have forgotten about High Jive Productions and Campout Roots’ second annual Fall Roots Fest, featuring eight bands playing five free shows across three days in two Eau Claire venues. The fest kicks off on Oct. 1 at The Mousetrap (311 S. Barstow St.) with local jam band heroes (and featuring nine-year Campout Roots festival veterans) The Excellent Adventure with local psychedelic rockers Yam Cannon. Then Oct. 2 at 6pm, see Downers Grove, Irie Sol, and Yam Cannon at Phoenix Park. Then in the evening, Downers Grove plays again, with Blue Room (playing an acoustic set) plus folk/blues singer/songwriter Vinny Weible once again at The Trap. Then Saturday, Oct. 3, at noon, Phoenix Park features the hard-drivin’ but soft spoken bluegrass folk band EverGreen Grass Band, Hey Joe, Blue Room again, and Vinny Weible, this time with a backing band. The Fall Roots Fest finishes at The Mousetrap with another round of the EverGreen Grass Band, Hey Joe, and Vinny Weible at 10pm. For more information, get the full details from our Full Slate calendar listings or contact Vinny at 829-2679 or vinnyweible@hotmail.com.
