New Exhibit True to Title
Drawing Beyond Edges is the upcoming exhibit in UW-Eau Claire’s Foster Art Gallery.
Drawing Beyond Edges is an apt title for the upcoming exhibit in UW-Eau Claire’s Foster Art Gallery. Four artists, hailing from Nova Scotia to California, demonstrate a departure from traditionally framed, two-dimensional outlets. Their drawings leap into broader spaces, including the ceiling and floors of the gallery. Some works will occupy a space nearly six feet by six feet. Though their materials range from cut steel to graphite to found objects, artists Edward Mayer, Cal Lane, Fraser Taylor, and Amanda Hughen share an exploratory approach to drawing and its ever-expanding definitions. The opening reception will be Thursday, Jan. 29 and will run from 7:30-9 pm. Edward Mayer, currently a teacher of sculpture at the University of Albany in New York, will be in attendance.
