Anticipation and excitement has only grown with each new update from Market on River (MOR), the soon-to-be headquarters of the Wisconsin Farmers Union in downtown Chippewa Falls, since the project was first announced two years ago. In 2023, detailed plans revealed what would be housed within the 128 W. River St. building: the WFU state headquarters, of course; business suites for lease; nine top-floor apartment units; and the Food Hall.

Always craving new eateries, local foodies have continued to guess what the Food Hall will include. Steadily approaching its official opening around mid-October, MOR has shared a couple of of its soon-to-be Food Hall offerings: TemptAsians and Whirlybird Coffee Co. – each locally-owned and well-loved grub and drink spots. The latest to join the food fray is the same.

JimBob’s Pizza shocked longtime customers when it announced the pizzeria’s doors would close at its Chippewa Falls location inside Ojibwa Golf & Bowl on Sept. 22, via an email announcement earlier this summer. Though its Eau Claire location (2205 Fairfax St.) would remain open, its closure in Chippewa Falls seemed imminent and certain to leave a gap in the latter’s food scene.

Well, mourn no longer, JimBob’s lovers: MOR will soon be home to the longtime local pizzeria.

After making the announcement on Sept. 11 on Facebook, owners Steve and Vicki Wagner said the move to MOR also marks a return to JimBob’s roots: delicious, simple pizza made with fresh, quality ingredients. “We’re excited to join the MOR group and collaborate with such a vibrant community of businesses,” they said. “Looking forward to bringing peace, love and pizza to the table!”

At both the Eau Claire and soon-to-be Chippewa Falls locations, the pizzeria’s signature five-cheese blend will be sourced locally to support WFU. Customers can expect JimBob’s classic offerings such as strombolis, calzones, manjare rolls and subs, and more alongside a few new specialty items that will debut at MOR. The new location will also partner with Door Dash for deliveries.

The Food Hall will also houses retail spaces including Captain Coop’s Trading Co. and The Juggery, while the second floor is set to welcome salon Organix by Melissa.

"We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Steve and his amazing team from JimBob's Pizza to Market on River," WFU Facilities Director Jackie Boos said. "Having them stay in Chippewa Falls is a huge win for all pizza lovers! Their presence will undoubtedly enhance our community and bring a new vibe to downtown."

Another food-related announcement is expected from MOR in the coming weeks as well, Boos said.
