Local cyclists brought out their very best tweed and spent an afternoon in the sun during the second annual Tweed Bike Ride & Croquet event on Oct. 3.
Organized by Bike Chippewa Valley, this vintage-style group ride kicked off at 10th Street Park in Altoona with plenty of scones and tea to enjoy, plus some traditional portraits of the group.
In case it wasn't obvious, dressing up in tweed, decorating bikes – even bringing a dressed-up pet – was highly encouraged.
From there, riders pedaled to The Yard Container Park (211 Division St., Altoona) for some rest and refreshments before continuing to Lake Altoona County Park to trade handlebars for croquet mallets on the lawn.
The afternoon concluded with an after-party for drinks at Helix Wine, Craft Bar & Cafe (1444 Front Porch Pl, Altoona). While no croquet experience was required, participants enjoyed a social afternoon chock full of nostalgia and merriment.
