The Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild (CVTG) invites locals to step into "one of the most powerful and enduring true stories of the 20th century" during a limited run of "The Diary of Anne Frank."
With performance dates spanning Oct. 1 through Oct. 11, this local production at The Grand Theatre (102 W Grand Ave., Eau Claire) tells the journey of 13-year old Anne Frank as she and her Jewish family hide from Nazi persecution in an occupied Amsterdam.
Major themes in the stage play – authored by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett; adapted by Wendy Kesselman – center on the human condition. Young Anne captures the daily realities of her family life through her diary. She and other characters throughout confront life with honesty, wit and determination.
"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world," Anne says.
Previously, the CVTG brought this production to its Eau Claire stage in 2013.
"The Diary of Anne Frank" will run at The Grand Theatre (102 W Grand Ave., Eau Claire) through Oct. 11; tickets are $29/adults and $20/students and can be purchase at the door or online. Visit cvtg.org to learn more about the Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild and upcoming productions.
