The Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild presents "Calendar Girls," its latest production which spotlights themes of friendship and bravery – "all for a good cause."
Chippewa Vallians experienced the heartwarming tale, with original screenplay writing by Tim Firth, from March 12-13 and 19-21 at The Grand Theatre (102 W Grand Ave, Eau Claire).
The play, according to the Guild, is inspired by a true story; "Calendar Girls" follows a group of women from a rural English village who defy all odds by posing nude for a charity calendar – following the loss of a dear friend.
The fundraising initiative quickly becomes a phenomenon across the play – directed in Eau Claire by Carrie Paul – which challenges societal expectations and offers moments of grief, vulnerability and yes, laugh-out-loud humor.
On March 21, the Guild's cast and crew celebrated their final weekend of "Calendar Girls" and invited locals for a good laugh and even better message.
