Graphic Designer
(Sr/Lead and/or Entry-Level)

Volume One, the Chippewa Valley’s award-winning and impactful publishing, digital media, video, and event company is seeking a graphic designer (or possibly two) of entry or mid/senior-level status for full-time positions on our dynamic and collaborative team. These roles will add growth to our design squad as we move into our 20th year of continued success, taking us up to a roster of two full-time designers, and one part-time designer.

YOUR OPPORTUNITY

Collaborate with editors, programmers, photographers, videographers, and other professionals to create interesting and important local projects at a creative-friendly organization that places a high priority on visual aesthetic.

Design both print and digital assets for multiple publications, websites, and active social media pages including ads, feature content, infographics, editorial layouts, and more.

Produce motion graphics and titling for vibrant editorial and client video projects. Design dynamic signage, spaces, and experiences through beloved community events.

Create compelling local product designs and branding, as well as curate local and regional products that match the aesthetic of our growing retail space, The Local Store.

Immerse yourself in the art community to discover work for our publications, illustrators for special issues, and shows for our rotating gallery.

Perform a variety of client-based work, plus work for special projects and publications, that positively impact our community in ways you can see every day.

We might be biased, but we think this is one of the coolest and most diverse design jobs someone can land in this region.

TRAITS & QUALIFICATIONS

Successful candidates must posses extensive knowledge in and efficient use of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and In-Design. Experience with web, multi-media design, and Adobe After Effects is preferred.

A design degree, industry experience, and/or prior work in publication design and pre-press production is also preferred, along with competency in photography.

Must be a multi-tasking, self-motivated, and well-organized fast worker, and must enjoy collaborating with outside clients as well as in-house account managers, editors, and video professionals.

PAY & BENEFITS

This is a full-time, salaried position in a bright and interesting office space in downtown Eau Claire. Enjoy a range of benefits including accumulation of one to four weeks paid vacation, eight paid holidays, health and dental insurance contributions, retirement contributions, partially-paid maternity/paternity leave, family gym memberships, community stipends, community service days, Local Store discounts and more. We’re located in a walkable district just feet from the bike trail, Eau Claire River, Phoenix Park, the library, theaters, and several restaurants, retailers, and community assets.

Why is this role open?

One of our amazing designers of 4+ years, Taylor, is preparing to move out of state in the coming months so she’s playing a role in helping select her successor! Our other amazing designer, Hleeda, has a successful online business of her own, and she’s going down to part-time with Volume One so she can keep working on growing her own business too, which is awesome. So we’re actually growing the team from two people, to two-and-a-half people!
