4th Annual Robert Frost Celebration of American Poetry

UW-Eau Claire will host the fourth annual Frederick and Joan Christopherson Schmidt Robert Frost Celebration of American Poetry at 4 p.m. Monday, April 24, in the Dakota Ballroom in Davies Center.
Several poems by Frost will be among those featured during the event, as well as original poems written by the winners of UW-Eau Claire’s Centennial Poetry Competition, who will be recognized and read their works. A reception will follow.
The poetry event, which is free and open to the public, celebrates the university's Frederick G. and Joan Christopherson Schmidt Robert Frost Collection, which was acquired in 2013 by the UW-Eau Claire Foundation.

Spoken Word Workshop & Open Mic - Standup, Storytelling, and Poetry

Join members of Clear Water Comedy, the Chippewa Valley Writers Guild, and Twig magazine for a spoken word workshop and writing session followed an open read and live performances in the V1 gallery. Get some feedback, work on your writing, and fine tune your spoken word skills in a friendly, no-pressure setting with guidance from experienced writers, poets, and comedians.

Poetry Reading: Jon Loomis

University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and esteemed poet & author Jon Loomis will read from his new book, "The Mansion of Happiness." The book is a collection of poetry covering alien abduction, reincarnation, earthquakes, love, death, middle age, children, the end of the world, and beyond.
