Nothing says winter like a brisk trip down a steep, snowy hill on a sled. But an injury, no matter how severe, can bring a rapid stop to winter fun.  Safety is top of mind for Pinehurst Park organizers and they’ll be hosting a winter safety day – on January 9, 2016.

The public is invited to join the Eau Claire Parks, Recreation, Fire and Rescue Departments for a day of winter fun and safety. This event will include proper headgear and equipment recommendations, rescue demonstrations, Pinehurst Park improvements information, and other valuable safety information.

PINEHURST SLEDDING
AND TUBING GUIDELINES

1. Wear a helmet!
2. Don’t start from the top.
3. Walk up the left (east) side of the hill, slide down on the right (west) side.
4. People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them. 
5. Never push other sledders or tubers. 
6. When you get to the bottom, look up the hill immediately to see if anyone else is coming, then
7. Make your way to the walk-up area on the left side quickly. 

PINEHURST SKI
AND SNOWBOARD GUIDELINES

1. Always stay in control, and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects.
2. People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them.
3. You must not stop where you obstruct a trail or are not visible from above.
4. Whenever starting downhill or merging into a trail, look uphill and yield to others.
5. Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment.
6. Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
7. Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely.
