The Plus

In the last 18 months or so, the standup comedy scene in Eau Claire has exploded into something rib-ticklingly legitimate thanks to Clear Water Comedy, a collective of seriously funny local comics.

It’s all taken place at The Plus in downtown Eau Claire, whose backroom is set up cabaret-style with tables and chairs (and it even has the classic comedy club motif of the brick wall behind the stage).

The comedians of Clear Water Comedy now book weekly shows at The Plus every Thursday at 9pm. These shows are curated and booked by the comedians themselves, and they feature a blend of local laughmakers and talented, hand-picked out-of-towners.

The comedy scene here in Eau Claire has started to get some notice from the notably strong and expansive Twin Cities scene, so Clear Water Comedy is consistently booking some of the best young standups from that bustling scene to come here and make Eau Claire laugh.

It’s a wonderfully local date night option. You can enjoy dinner and drinks during the show (half-price apps and taps start at 10pm on Thursdays), the show is only $3 a person, and you also get a free drink with your ticket!

Though every show at The Plus is all-ages, the kids might not be ready for some of the language and material, so get a sitter and check it out on your own sometime. Your funny bone will thank you later.
