UWEC Campus Mall

Since 2008, thousands of Chippewa Valley folks and their families have made Chalkfest – Volume One’s annual mashup of visual art and sidewalk chalk – a summer staple at Wilson Park in downtown Eau Claire. Now, to take the event to the next level, Volume One is partnering with UW-Eau Claire to bring an expanded and improved Chalkfest experience to the university’s campus mall on Saturday Aug. 15. The main focus will still – and always – be the 100+ chalkers doing their thing on their reserved squares, but by moving the event to the campus mall, it affords Chalkfest the opportunity to expand, adding components like live music in the streamside amphitheater, more area for kid chalkers, better (and more organized) parking, food vendors, art vendors, and actual bathrooms that can’t be tipped over. Registration is now open at VolumeOne.org/Chalkfest so if you’ve got any artists in the family get them signed up soon so they can start planning their work!
