UW-Eau Claire students’ film screened in San Francisco
It’s no secret that there have been some major changes around the US regarding LQBTQ rights and there is no way this would stop at the state level. We here in Wisconsin have some dedicated students at UW-Eau Claire who are determined to make a difference.
According to a press release by the Eau Claire news bureau a documentary short film called “Out of the Convent” was produced by students at Eau Claire as part of the UW-Eau Claire’s women’s studies course “LGBTQA Studies: San Francisco Travel Seminar.” It was screened on June 23 at San Francisco’s Roxie Theater as part of the Generations: Youth and Elders Making Movies series and the Frameline37 San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival.
Directed by Thomas Kishaba, Andrea VanHaren, and Bridget Oliver, the documentary follows the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, an international charity, protest and street performance organization that was founded in San Francisco. Dressed as nuns during their appearances, their mission is to protect human rights and respect diversity.
