Local donors buy $140,000 bible

The Eau Claire Community Foundation just organized the dropping of $140,000 on a rare (and brand new) "Saint John’s Bible Heritage Edition Bible" that took over 15 years to make by hand by renowned calligrapher Donald Jackson. The money came from private donors. From WQOW.com ...
The Eau Claire Community Foundation bought one of only 299 illustrated, handwritten Bibles in the world. There are seven volumes to each Bible. Those volumes will be on display at both Sacred Heart Hospital and the Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. It took several years for the calligrapher to finish the hand-crafted bible.
... There are a limited number of these Bibles. Some are on display at the Vatican. The [Eau Claire Community Foundation’s] volumes will be on display on the main floor of both facilities in Eau Claire.
According to its website, The Eau Claire Community Foundation’s mission is to “strengthen our community by offering donors opportunities to establish charitable legacies, by making grants, and by serving as a catalyst to address community needs.” The foundation “establishes endowments that are invested to provide long-term support for a charitable purpose.”
