Minnesotans can blather on all day about their famed disposition “Minnesota Nice.” Big deal. Over here in Eau Claire, we’ve got a city council passing resolutions stating council members must get along and be “civil” as they interact. Or they go to jail.

Minus the part about jail.

At last night’s council meeting, our congenial council men and women passed a resolution stating they promise to keep working together even if they disagree – a so-called “civil discourse resolution.” According to WEAU.com, the idea is adopted from a similar rule used by the National Bar Association and City Council President Kerry Kincaid believes we’re the first city in the country to pass such a resolution.

BOOM. Take that, rest of the country!

Note: It occurs to me that perhaps places like Minnesota have not passed similar resolutions because they just don’t need to. But whatever. On Wisconsin!
