The Great Play and The Touchdown
Racing down the ice
I catch my opponent
Then fire it to my teammate
Who can only miss the pass
Maybe it was the lights
Maybe the camera’s flash
Then I attack
It’s all mine
I’m all alone
Just me and the goalie
As I release the puck
From my stick
Its speed
Seems to increase
Only until the weaving of the net stops it in its tracks
I shall not just sit back and wait
A touchdown should be earned
I’ll sprint until my heart stops
And take hits until it burns
I’ll move as soon as Lukas speaks
That is when I go
I’ll run through the thick and thin
And watch our score grow
And when I get the ball
I’ll look for the open hole
And trust my teammates to hold their blocks
Until we punch through the goal
