Forgetting

Two girls fall asleep
On each other’s shoulders,
On the bus ride home.

There is a girl,
I see her everywhere,
But she blends into the background.
I feel that I have to talk,
But something in her expression
Is like a dead end sign.

As they stand under
The rain,
Their souls are cleansed,
With the pure water,
Just as their skin is.

They are in the middle
Of her floor.
She walks past them everyday,
As if not noticing.
But she can’t forget.
Those memories
Have burned a permanent fixture
Inside her mind.
All those photos are telling her the same thing:
It was fun while it lasted.
