The Gravity of Friendship
The ground reached out to grab us
As we were pulled
We let out a burst of uncontrollable
Laughter
She and I fell on the grass
As sharp as knives
I looked at her
She looked at me
I rested my head on her
As the cold air
Cut our throats
We were two peas in a pod
My eyes started watering like
A leak in the ceiling
I turned around
And everyone was gone
I rolled off her and laid on my back
And I looked up at the sky
As blue as the ocean
We picked out clouds we liked
And when they opened their floodgates
We didn’t run
We didn’t hide
We looked at each other
Laughed
And it started all over again
