Warmth, Desire

I walk home in the dark
My hands frost bitten
My lips chapped
Cracked
And red from the cold night
Everything around me
Is covered in a white blanket
The paved road
Under a coat of clear
Slippery
Ice
The lampposts die out
As the cold night attacks
The only great thing about that night
Was the twilight sky
Shining me a path home
I gaze into the
Black and blue sky
Feeling warmth start to pour into me
My body shivers
Not from the fierce cold night
But for finally remembering
What warmth feels like
It’s a gift of joy
A bowl of hot soup
I walk home
Warm
And proud
I have the twilight sky
To thank
So now I say
Thank you
