Saturday | Chippewa Valley Roller Girls Season Opener
Saturday kicks off the Chippewa Valley Roller Girls' (CVRG) first game as Eau Claire's original all-female flat track roller derby league ever. You will not be disappointed! After watching this game, "fight like a girl" will have a whole new meaning. Join them for their first season's first game against the Bull Falls Roller Dolls. STAGE | Hairspray: Hairspray is set in the 1960s Baltimore when the 50s are out and change is in the air. When plus-size heroine Tracy Turnblad wins a spot on the local TV dance program, she becomes an overnight sensation. Can she vanquish the program's reining princess, integrate the TV show and find true love without mussing her hair? Presented by the Eau Claire Children's Theatre. MUSIC | Savannah Smith, Davy Sumner Ensemble and Jamie Yanda: The Savannah Smith, Davy Sumner Ensemble and Jamie Yanda performance will have their audience amazed by their talents. Savannah Smith is a songwriter whose soft smooth voice floats over simple ukelele chords. Local composer Davy Sumner draws influence from everyone from Philip Glass to the Dirty Projectors for a collection of bright, airy, modern compositions. KIDDIES | Kaite Mcky: Pumpkin Town Reading: Meet local author Katie McKy and hear her read Pumkin Town. When the town grows just too many pumpkins they must figure out a way to use them all. The creative plot will have the little ones excited to find out how characters, Jose and her bothers solve the town's pumkin dilemma. (Children's Museum of Eau Claire, 220 S. HORROR | Village of Terror: The Village of Terror is spooky fun 4-7pm with FREE carnival rides, magic shows, clowns, haunted hayrides and more. The village is filled with shoppes, music and good things to eat. But after dark, stay if you dare and rave the dead! It’s the Vampyres Ball, 7pm-midnight each night featuring a finalist in the Scariest Band in the Valley contest and the Bates Hotel House Band. The carnival continues as the hayride becomes haunted, the town is taken over by zombies, vampires, ghouls and freaky creatures come to party. Costume Contest nightly, leading up to Halloween.
