• “I wanted people to walk on campus where they felt their presence was missing,” says Megan Wieczorek. “I used EZ- Paint, an eco-friendly spray paint
• But the Dean of Students says the sophomore art major didn't get approval for the project.
• “You have to get permission,” says Dean of Students Joan Thomas. “...  there's an approval process.”
• “I figured I wouldn't get permission because it was too out-of-bounds, and seemed too strange,” says Wieczorek.

I’m not sure if this is an artist breaking the rules for the sake of art or simply a case of avoiding some paperwork, but it’s the kind of thing ballsy art majors thrive on. Wieczorek told WEAU, “To put your creativity and experience out there and take a risk, yeah, I think in the end it was definitely worth it.” She was able to overturn a suspension for her project. A Facebook page has been set up to gather donations for the fines.

The crusty ol’ Dean of Students was probably extra miffed because Stout unveiled their shiny new Jarvis Hall last week. Also note – while the spray paint Wieczorek used may have been eco-friendly, I’m assuming the acid-based cleaners used by Stout’s maintenance crew were not.
