Leaf it up to the internet

Is getting excited about fall colors a lame thing to get excited about? If so, color me orange, yellow, red. and lame, baby. I like fall colors and I’ve got the internet on my side with the Wisconsin Fall Colors Report. The webpage was created by the Wis. Department of Tourism (Travel Wisconsin) who claims to have 100 fall color reporters providing updates in all 72 counties of the state.

The coolest, crispest part of the page is a map indicating the percentage of trees "in peak color” by county. You’ll also find photos, peak color locations and timing, and number of weeks until an area is expected to reach peak color. It also includes links to scenic drives, colorful parks, upcoming events, and other stuff.

Right now, the entire state is green, with all Wis. counties reporting only 0%-25% of their trees to have reached peak color potential, i.e., the state is less than 25% awesome. When awesome levels reach the 90% range, I expect our eyeballs to explode.
