Great news! The Chippewa Valley Roller Girls – our very own roller derby team – have their first two bouts scheduled. Nice! Their inaugural “bouting season” won’t begin until September, but these are real, live, smash’em up competitions against other teams: the Mississippi Valley Mayhem and the LaCrosse Skating Sirens. Both teams have practiced with the girls and have helped to show them the ropes. In fact, these are the teams that “dared” Eau Claire to come up with their own team. Match info:

• MAY 15 ... the squad’s first bout/scrimmage ... traveling to LaCrosse to battle the Mississippi Valley Mayhem at Green Island Ice Arena
• MAY 22 ... traveling to LaCrosse to battle the Skating Sirens at The Lacrosse Center
