Just a casual warning from the Eau Claire City-County Health Department about a rabid bat. They say ...

• Eau Claire, Wisconsin – May 4, 2010. The Eau Claire City-County Health Department is warning the public about a rabid bat found on the City of Eau Claire bike trail under the Lake Street bridge on May 3, 2010 at approximately 10:15 AM.  This bat was found on the concrete within easy reach of humans and pets. 
• Any human having any physical contact with this or any other bat should seek advice from their physician immediately.

Ah, bat season in Eau Claire. The bat described above was found right on the edge of the Randall Park Neighborhood, a place I like to call “Holy Crap Look at all the Bats Land." Not in a bad way – I actually like watching them swoop around in evening sky (well above my head).

Rabies aside, I’ve always thought the Randall Park bats should get organized and assert their place in the neighborhood. Maybe have a block party?
