Saturday: Earth Day Festivities

Mike Paulus |

The Eau Claire Earth Day Celebration: Growing Healthy Communities celebrates the Earth and the local community through music, food, children's entertainment, and exhibitors. The children's entertainment features Magic Mama and storyteller Paula Gorski, plus live music for everyone by Billy Krause, Brian Just, Bruce O'Brien, and Brad Sienne, all local talent, and more. (Owen Park, Eau Claire; Sat/11am-6pm)

BLUEGRASS: Grandpa Lloyd's Gospel Bluegrass Show | Chippewa Valley bluegrass fans have a chance to kick up their heels at the area’s first big gospel bluegrass show. The event kicks off a series of bluegrass and country shows held at Grandpa Lloyd’s Horse Barn just east of Menomonie and features the area’s fine gospel group King’s Countrymen and one of the region’s hottest new acts in bluegrass, Eau Claire’s own New North String Band. (Grandpa Lloyd’s Horse Barn, Elk Mound; Sat/5pm/$8)

FARCE: Noises Off | Heralded by the New York Post as the funniest farce ever written, Tony Award winner Michael Frayn's Noises Off is a hilarious play about a hapless theatre troupe trying desperately to stage the comedy Nothing's On. Characters make their exits from the play within the play, only to make entrances into the real life shenanigans happening behind the scenes. (Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts; Sat/7:30pm/$15, $13)

INDIE POP: The Daredevil Christopher Wright + Mages + The Brothers Burn Mountain | DCW's local, wildly popular upbeat indie pop rock features three-part harmonies that bursts like a sunny spring day. Mages is a five piece music ensemble based in Minneapolis, featuring soulful acoustic musings and precise harmonies. The Brothers Burn Mountain boast acoustic folk rock. (Eau Claire House of Rock; Sat/8pm/$5)

AMERICANA: The Gentle Guest | A rare performance from the local high-energy alt-country Americana folk band. The Gentle Guest is Eric Rykal and friends. Their music is bottled in Eau Claire, WI, for the most part, near the Chippewa River in the living room of a little blue house. Their sound can be found somewhere between the Great Depression and 2008. (The Cabin, UWEC; Sat/8pm, free)

Saturday: See it all. Sunday: As well.
