TONIGHT: Spotlight on Jazz

The 2010 UWEC Jazz Fest is winding down, but there’re still a few big performances left. Tonight, back for a second night, Spotlight on Jazz features internationally recognized trumpeter Nicholas Payton, saxophonist Kenni Holmen, UWEC Jazz I director Robert Baca and Festival's High School Honor Bands. STAGE: The 24 Hour Project | Creative and performing artists from four disciplines collaborate on an exhibition of works conceived, rehearsed and performed within 24 hours. It is produced by the UWEC Players, Eau Claire's very own guerilla theatre organization. The kick off at 7pm April 16th; the performance is 24 hours later. There will be music, art, theatre and dancing, and you're invited. (Riverside Theatre, UWEC; Sat/7pm-9:30pm/$5, $3)
ALSO STAGE: The Oxford Grand Opening: Encore Performance of RENT | Celebrating the Eau Claire Children's Theatre's new theatre The Oxford, enjoy three encore performances of RENT featuring the original cast from this fall’s production, starring Adam Krajnikconde and Kelly Peak. Funds raised will be used to help finish furnishing the building. (The Oxford, 1814 Oxford Ave.; Sat/7:30pm-10pm/$20)
FASHION: Fashion without Fabric | Stout's own design students will parade down the runway, fashioning everything but fabric. These creations, made out of anything from cotton balls to plastic tarp, are sure to be one of a kind! Buy tickets early because the show sells out every year.
