Well, Rice Lake has a nineteen year old mayor. From WEAU:

• In Tuesday’s election, community members voted in a close race, 53% to 47% to elect Romaine Robert Quinn as the city's youngest mayor in history. Quinn says he’s excited to take on his new role and help move the community forward.
• Politics has always had a spot in Romaine Quinn's mind.
• "It was something I've always enjoyed hearing about the issues, what's going on, and being concerned about other people's situations," Quinn said.

Maybe I’m a big, dumb, cynical, ruggedly handsome pessimist, but I’m truly surprised that a Wisconsin town the size of Rice Lake would take a chance on some nineteen year old dude. That’s pretty cool. Or maybe the incumbent candidate was just a horrible mayor and everyone else was too lazy to run for the office. Cynical zingers ahoy!

Seriously though, it’s cool. Back when I was nineteen, I was doing important things, too. You know, like renting all three Indian Jones movies on VHS and buying a huge bag of Doritos and a liter of Mountain Dew so I could have Awesome Friday Fun Night ... with, um, all my many cool friends.
