April's Road Trip:
Wisconsin Film Festival
Showing over 200 films in eight theaters throughout Madison, the 2010 Wisconsin Film Festival may very well live up to its claim to be “possibly the largest campus-based film festival in the United States.” This festival is all about the films, though; you won’t find any flashy red carpets or VIP access here. Instead, prepare to be wowed by a slate of solid moviemaking endeavors from across the world, including a short by Menomonie native Samuel Tomfohr entitled Moon, Stars, Earth, Horse about a family dealing with a father’s homecoming from military service. This year’s opening night feature is The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls, a New Zealand documentary about Jules and Lynda Topp, a country music singing comedy sister act.
