This weekend, if you’re too tired to dance, let some UWEC students do the dancing for you. Every year, UW-Eau Claire puts on DanceWorks, a show featuring the work of students, with this year featuring several pieces of modern dance, one tap, two jazz, one contemporary ballet, and a contemporary jazz. MUSIC: Michael Perry and the Long Beds CD Release | The Wisconsin author, humorist, singer, and songwriter presents an evening of words and music. After opening the show with a passel of heartfelt (and often hilarious) stories drawn from his books, Michael Perry will take the stage with his band the Long Beds for a lively performance of original roughneck folk songs from his new album Tiny Pilot (released by Amble Down Records). STAGE: An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein | BareBones Ensemble Theatre's newest production, featuring 10 short plays, 12 local actors, music, profanity, poems, dancing, crying, laughing, maybe juggling and plenty of action. MUSIC/LAFFS: Pat McCurdy | Pat McCurdy is a talented musician, eight-time winner of the Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) award for state entertainer of the year as well as two time merit award winner from Billboard Magazine for songwriting. He is also a gut-busting comedian. His shows have been described by fans as “cabaret shows, but raunchier.” Pat has opened for such acts as: B-52’s, Cheap Trick, R.E.M., The Beach Boys, John Prine, The Kinks, Kansas, and more.
