THE CONCERTS: At the Back Stage Concert Series, the bands, the audience, (and a bar) are all right on the State Theatre stage among the bricks, rigging, and lights - a space theater patrons rarely get to see. The usual auditorium is curtained off to create a unique back-stage environment where music lovers of all ages can gather to see performances from some of the best Chippewa Valley bands for seven gigs between October and April. Remaining shows are all only $5 and include:
THURS, FEB 25 - Excellent Advenutre (jam rock) + Dead Dogs (bluesy folk rock)
THURS, MAR 18 - Irie Sol (reggae) + Duncan Ninja (funk)
THURS, APR 29 - Drunk Drivers (rock) + The Jaggernauts (rock)
Check out http://www.volumeone.org/backstage for the series schedule, photos, music, links, and custom-created videos of some of the participating bands!
ALL AGES EVENT: Anyone can enter, must be 21+ to drink. Presented by the State Theatre and Volume One. Additional sponsors include: DMi Sound, Sitepro, A Brand New Tattoo.
THE VIDEOS: As part of the series, the State Theatre and Volume One teamed up with local video producers Sitepro and sound engineers DMi Sound to produce highly professional, Austin City Limits-style videos of seven of the series' bands playing for a live studio audience in the Back Stage Concert environment. Those bands included The New North String Band, Laarks, Meridene, The Jim Pullman Band, QuinnElizabeth, South Farwell, and the Jaggernuats. Four cameras (including a massive boom arm) filmed the bands' performances on Labor Day 2009. All videos can be seen at http://www.volumeone.org/backstage
PHOTOS FOR PUBLICATION: Images of the Back Stage Concert Series are available. We also encourage photographers to come capture the event live - the unique back stage setting can make for some interesting photos.
