This Weekend: The Shadowbox

Mike Paulus |

UWEC’s Theatre Department’s a-gonna get all heavy on ya with The Shadowbox. In this Pulitzer Prize winning play, three terminal cancer patients dwell in separate cottages on a hospital’s grounds. With a sense of humor and sensitivity the play dramatizes they, their family and close friends' anxieties, coming to grips with the finality of a preordained future of an unknown length. There are shows on Saturday (7:30pm) and Sunday (1:30pm)and throughout next week at UWEC’s Kjer Theatre. Details.

Saturday links: Downtown EC Farmers Market, Local Art Tour, Big Brew Beer Fest, Battle of the Bands Finals, Big Band Bash, The Goof Ball, Bob & Tom All-Stars Comedy Tour, Pat McCurdy, and more.

And on Sunday: Eau Claire Marathon, The Last Five Years, Lend Me a Tenor, Wind Symphony Concert, World Tavern Poker League.

Fun fact: That shadowbox up above was made by Mr. Bill Nolte.
