Yawns Herself To Death
Efforts of Physicians Fail to Relieve Wisconsin Woman
Eau Claire Weekly Telegram | March 26, 1903
Eau Claire - After yawning without interruption for three days despite every effort to relieve her, Mrs. William Henry Jenner is dead. Physicians decided that the woman was suffering from obscure lesion of the brain, producing laryngeal spasms. Mrs. Jenner, unable to sleep yawned until she could do so no more from the lack of strength, and then died.
Chad’s Take:
This is certainly not the way I want to go out. With all the countless ways to meet my fate, I would feel cheated if it was yawning that did me in. Imagine people telling stories of you dying while killing a ferocious lion that was attacking senior citizens, or that you saved an orphanage when you threw yourself on a grenade. Now imagine someone asking “Hey, what ever happened to (Insert your name here)?” and the reply is this “Ummmm… they died because they yawned too much.” Mrs. Jenner did suffer this terrible fate, and unfortunately the best doctors in Eau Claire could not keep her alive. Hopefully the Eau Claire doctors will have better luck when yawning comes looking for me.
Keep an eye out.
