Taser: 1, Steak Knife: 0

If there’s one thing I know, it’s that a good fighter uses his or her environment to their advantage. You need to be creative and use whatever you have around you as a weapon – a lamp, a plastic coat hanger, your pet ferret, etc. This is common sense and the hallmark of our nation’s military’s special operations units TV shows where a sexy super spy wearing lots of leather must fight 20 bad guys.

Perhaps not so creative – yet probably effective in a fight – is the humble steak knife. This accessible weapon may not possess the surprising grace of, say, disabling your opponent with a package of Sour Patch Kids found lying on the counter, but it should do the job. Unless your name is Travis Christenson. From WQOW.com

  • An Eau Claire County man faces charges after being accused of lunging at deputies with a steak knife …
  • As [police] looked for him in the house, they say Christenson lunged out of a room at them. They struggled on the floor before Christenson was tasered.  Deputies say they found a steak knife underneath Christenson.

So today’s lesson is that you shouldn’t try to shank police officers with your steak knife because you will probably get slightly electrocuted.
