Eau Claire’s Borders Bookstore is probably breathing a huge sigh of relief right now, as the planners behind a Barnes and Noble store at Oakwood Mall just yelled, “Psych!” The plans have been shelved indefinitely. From WQOW.com:

• Last year, News 18 told you how the mall was planning a 29,000-square-foot Barnes and Noble store along with a salon, cosmetics and fragrance store. The mall says construction is now on hold and there's no word when the project might move forward.

WQOW also says that General Growth Properties (who owns our mall, and many others) has been fighting off bankruptcy. Was anyone out there really looking forward to a Barnes and Noble?
