How Obama's Stimulus Plan Might Shake Out in the 'Valley
Amid more local layoff news and strong hints at cutting area teaching positions, WQOW.com covers how President Obama's proposed stimulus plan could affect the Chippewa Valley, saying …
- Wisconsin could see $3 billion as part of President Obama's proposed stimulus plan. The Eau Claire School District alone could get close to $6 million over the next two years.
- … Congressman Ron Kind's office says the state could get more than $300 million to fund pell grants for college students. Close to $181 million extra could come in to fund the state's elementary, middle, and high schools. Law enforcement agencies in Wisconsin could get around $45 million.
- … Kind's office says the house could vote on the stimulus package as early as Wednesday.
Not sure what this means for the area in reality. Obviously, “stimulus” does not mean “silver bullet,” and I’m wondering what we can do to support and protect our community.
