“Memoria“ by Luecy Xiong

Luecy Xiong, a Hmong American artist, was born and raised in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. She earned her BFA in Illustration from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. From watching animated films to reading a wide range of fictional media growing up, her work is fully immersed in the realm of fantasy. Her primary medium of choice is digital, but she also works proficiently with graphite, watercolor, ink, and colored pencil.

Xiong enjoys working with themes surrounding mental health, identity, maladaptive daydreaming, childhood trauma, and imagination. She implements surreal and imaginative elements when depicting aspects of reality. Inspired by anime and manga, her style is a vibrant combination of color and emotion. She also takes inspiration from nature, portraiture, and video games.

“Memoria” • Digital Illustration • February 2026 • About the artwork, from the artist: “Memoria is a piece that embodies the light and emotions that come within my soul. The work itself is a visual manifestation of fragmented memories of my childhood. I wanted to capture the warmth and happiness that I associate with the earlier parts of my life. Memoria serves as a reminder to my current self that my inner child’s presence remains as a constant in my life.”
