YOU'RE GONNA WANT TO SIT DOWN FOR THIS. From curries and tandoori to tikka masalas and saag dishes, New India Curry House has brought all the northern India-style flavor to south wing of Oakwood Mall through its new restaurant location. 

If you were a frequent patron at New Maharaja (1009 W. Park Ave., Chippewa Falls) and were upset that they recently closed, turn that frown upside down! The same owners behind New Maharaja have opened up shop in Eau Claire at the Oakwood Mall (4800 Golf Rd.), now serving hungry patrons as of Oct. 1. 

The new restaurant, New India Curry House, is located just inside the entrance of the mall's southwest wing entrance, at the former Five Guys spot. The change offers a fresh start and a pared down menu from the previous Chippewa Falls restaurant.

Owner Om Parkash explained New India Curry House's menu has been condensed some and should be easier for customers to read and decide what to order.

The restaurant serves a lunch buffet daily from 11am-2:30pm, with weekends proving the busiest days of the week so far. The buffet's food options (which includes dessert!) change daily but will always include two well-loved staples: chicken tikka masala and tandoori chicken.

Parkash said his restaurant appeals to just about every pallet. It serves north Indian cuisine, offers three spice levels – mild, medium and hot – with various gluten-free and vegan entrees.

They also serve beer and wine, plus chai tea, mango lassi and Indian pops.

If all that isn't enough to make you hungry, New India Curry House has its own food truck, too. Up and running now, the biz plans to be booked and busy headed into next spring and summer (learn more about that endeavor online). 

Spread the word: Eau Claire now has two sit-down Indian restaurants (the other is the recently opened Hyderabad Indian Grill), with New India Curry House being the only one with a buffet. Tell your friends and family to stop by for lunch or dinner – I'm already planning my next visit!
