We are excited to introduce and welcome Dr. Sara Henry!
Instilling strong dental hygiene habits in children starts with a positive first impression — one built on trust, comfort, and fun.
At Smiles in Motion Pediatric Dentistry, those values are the foundation of every visit. Founded by Dr. Amanda Spitz, the local practice is centered around creating an environment where kids feel safe, understood, and even excited about going to the dentist.
“I’ve always loved working with children,” says Dr. Spitz. “During dental school, the days I looked forward to most were the ones spent treating kids. That’s when I knew I wanted to specialize in pediatric dentistry.”
That passion led Dr. Spitz to create Smiles in Motion in 2008, with the first clinic opening in Chippewa Falls in 2009. Her goal then, is the same as it is today: Transform how families experience dental care.
“I wanted to reimagine what going to the dentist could feel like for children and their parents,” she explained, “to make it exceptional from the very beginning.”
Over the past 17 years, Smiles in Motion has expanded to include locations in Eau Claire, Menomonie, Rice Lake, Amery, and Hudson. Each office is staffed by experienced pediatric dentists who have completed two additional years of training after completing dental school, with a specialized focus on treating infants, children, and teens — including those with special healthcare needs.
That training goes beyond clinical care. “Pediatric dentistry also requires a deep understanding of child development and psychology,” Dr. Spitz explained. “We teach our team to approach every child with empathy and compassion, no matter their situation.”

With a team made up of individuals with both the professional expertise and empathy required to best meet children’s needs, Smiles in Motion has become known for an atmosphere that builds confidence and can reduce dental anxiety.
From the youngest patients coming in for their very first checkup — where they’ll be introduced to dental instruments with fun, kid-friendly language — to teenagers maintaining their dental health, every child is met with kindness and high-level care.
They can choose to relax with movies or music during their appointments, or chat with their provider about chasing away the “sugar bugs” on their teeth.
Every Smiles in Motion office is also designed to be as inviting as the care they provide. The Chippewa Falls location, for example, has a playful lobby with a real slide and hands-on activities, plus bright, colorful exam rooms.
Parents, too, can find comfort in Smiles in Motion’s care. At any time, families and caregivers can talk through all available options for their children’s dental plan.
“When a child needs dental treatment, it can be emotional,” Dr. Spitz said. “We take the time to ensure parents feel informed and supported.”

The regional practice’s team is also deeply embedded in the communities it serves, working to make a difference in both their patients’ lives and the places they call home.
Team members proudly supports local organizations and events, including the Eau Claire Children’s Theatre, the YMCA and Sports Center, the Children’s Museum of Eau Claire, Girls on the Run, Miracle League, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. They often bring dental education directly to daycares and schools through outreach programs, too.
No matter what your child’s dental needs may be, the team at Smiles in Motion offers a full range of pediatric dental services — from preventive care and cleanings to more complex treatments — all delivered in a welcoming, child-centered atmosphere.
