For some, dental care is one of those necessary parts of life and nothing more. For others, simply thinking of walking into a dental appointment is enough to spark anxiety. People on either end of that spectrum — and in between — have come to the same understanding after giving Eau Claire’s Bullis Pond Dental a try: Being cared for as a person, not just a patient, changes the entire experience.

That kind of care isn’t a tagline, but a humble vocation shared by Bullis Pond’s four-doctor team. It’s also the through-line between the practice’s general comprehensive care and meticulous specialty services.

Led by founder Dr. Curt Travis, who has 40 years of experience serving the wider Chippewa Valley, Bullis Pond opened its doors in 2018.

The slice of land it calls home inspired the practice’s name; the former grounds of what was once Eau Claire county’s largest family farm, over 100 years ago, is still host to an incredible view of the outdoors.

That view is one all patients come to know, as each room looks out across the pond and property. It’s the proverbial cherry-on-top detail for locals, who often point to the personable and professional care the Bullis Pond team offers.

“I’ve had a lot of dental care in my 60 years,” Patrick P., who receives his dental care at Bullis Pond, shared in a review. “However, Bullis Pond has made the experience much better. Dr. Travis and his outstanding team know how to make you feel welcome, comfortable, and an active participant in your care.”

Patrick’s final note, the perhaps unexpected benefit of Bullis Pond — being an active participant in his dental care — is a crucial adage.

“It is all about relationships,” Dr. Travis said. “It’s not about this procedure, that procedure, this approach, that approach. It’s all about having people’s trust and confidence.”

Dr. Metropulos, who joined the team in 2020, acknowledged the practice’s high-level services and dental technology — from its menu of Smile Design options and unique Teeth-In-A-Day offerings — but emphasized the provider-patient relationship most as well.

“Ultimately, patient comfort and connection are key,” he said. “They don’t care what you know until they know that you care.”

Yet, in no stretch of the imagination does Bullis Pond’s dental services take the backseat. The team’s innovative specialty service, Teeth-In-A-Day, is a prime example of that.

Also known as the “All-on-4” service, Teeth-In-A-Day is a four-step implant treatment that gives patients a stable, long-term solution to failing or missing teeth. Instead of replacing each tooth individually, 4-5 implants are strategically placed to support a full set of teeth.

“You leave with a beautiful temporary set the same day, and after a healing period, we design your permanent smile,” the team explained, noting Teeth-In-A-Day is more comfortable and secure than traditional dentures — and can be more cost-effective.

That offering is similar to Bullis Pond’s Smile Design services, in that both options are built on that foundational sentiment: You should be part of your smile design process every step of the way, from initial consultation to the finish line.

Smile Design services include veneers, crowns, composite bonding, and Invisalign — each delivered with what current patients say is meticulous attention to detail.

“(It’s) the best dental experience I’ve ever had,” Julia G. said in a review, calling Dr. Metropulos an artist who “obviously loves what he does.”

One phone call or in-person visit to the office is all it takes to become an active participant in your dental care, and at Bullis Pond, that means transparency and zero judgement every step of the process.

“To build trust and confidence with our patients, is a major point of emphasis of all our staff.” Dr. Travis explained. “Having patients be active participants in their treatment planning and care, results in the best possible outcome.”

“Putting people at ease is key to the Bullis Pond approach, and there’s no magic formula for that,” Dr. Travis explained. “If you can build some trust and confidence in a patient before you even have to do anything for them, the outcomes are so much better.”
