“Untitled“ by Gabs Conway
Gabs Conway is a sculptural ceramic artist based in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Having recently moved from her home town of Missoula, MT, where she was a long term resident, educator and Studio Coordinator for Wildfire Ceramics Studio. She also served as the Outreach Educator for the Clay Studio of Missoula during that same time. As of November 2025, she now lives and works out of her home studio in Eau Claire. Her educational experiences inform her personal work in many ways as she pushes the boundaries of clay; exploring relationships and community, and intrigued by familiarity in the unusual.
“Untitled” • Ceramic, oxidation fired to cone 6 • October 2025 • About the artwork, from the artist: “Gabs Conway’s work stems from the curiosity of existence. Exploring the playground that is life, she builds whimsical monstrosities based around snap shots of moments in time. She is inspired by relationships and community between all creatures. Larger forms suggest a relation towards humans, living much simpler lives; almost as if evolution had taken a different path, or a parallel universe. She reflects apathetically at the 'reality' that humanity has built, and strives to create a much kinder, slower world. Asking the viewer to question our reality, to reconsider an appreciation for the mundane, and to inquire what it means to exist in an ever changing world.”
