Eau Claire YMCA Gymnasts Earn Two National Championship Titles
local athletes return home from North Carolina with multiple All-Around honors, two championship titles

The YMCA of the Chippewa Valley Gymnastics Team saw six of their athletes off to the YMCA National Gymnastics Championships in Greensboro, N.C. at the tail-end of June. All returned home with top 10 event finishes with one gymnast, Avery Cohen, arriving back in town as a national championship title holder.
Roughly 2,000 athletes – ranging from ages six to 20 – from across the country traveled to the YMCA National Gymnastics Championships, held June 27-July 1.
Level 3 gymnasts Amelia Mengel, McKenzie Schwebach and Avery Cohen; level 4 gymnast Adalyn Schwartz; level 5 gymnast Amelia Wood; and XCEL Diamond gymnast Azaylea Price each received multiple top 10 finishes in their respective events.
“We are incredibly proud of our gymnasts for their dedication, perseverance and sportsmanship throughout the season,” Gymnastics Director Carly Anderson said in a recent media release.
“Representing the YMCA on a national stage is an outstanding accomplishment and these athletes showcased the hard work they have put in all year!”
