Since putting its roots down on the north side of town in the 1980s and '90s, Eau Claire's Wild Ridge & Mill Run Golf Courses (3905 Kane Rd., Eau Claire) have grown into local favorites for seasoned and new golfers alike. This season, returning guests will notice a few experiential shifts – with new management at the helm.

Late last year, Landscape Golf Management Company (LGM) was hired by the Wild Ridge & Mill Run team to manage the dual golf courses. That partnership led to the hiring of General Manager Steve Loomis, a Wisconsin native and PGA program graduate with over 25 years of expertise throughout the Wisconsin scene (most recently in Lake Geneva, where he was the vice president of golf and membership at Destination Geneva National).

Loomis has been tasked with enhancing the guest experience at Wild Ridge & Mill Run, guiding a 100-person staff to do so. Several new positions have been added to both courses' teams, including starters and rangers, to maintain the pace of play, start times and general course monitoring.

Golfers will notice the installation of a new, full irrigation replacement system at Mill Run, as well as upgrades to food and beverage offerings. For example, each beverage cart will now accept mobile payments to process transactions on the spot.

Returning golfers can still expect Wild Ridge's five sets of tees – with 18- and 9-hole offerings – golf leagues and programs, wildlife sightings and tranquility, dramatic elevations changes and stellar views.

Loomis said Wild Ridge feels like “a natural fit” for him and is excited to lead operations at the northwestern courses, which he says are known for “a strong track record.”

As of this spring, folks are already back on the courses – so book your next tee time online or swing by for dinner and stunning summertime views at the clubhouse.
