Bethany Phillips (@hollow_pen) is a Midwest illustrative ink artist who creates detailed drawings of the world surrounding her through a whimsical lens. Her primary medium is pen ink and graphite on paper, and often she completes her work alongside her cat Hollow, her artistry's namesake. Her art often centers around inked adaptations of insects among foliage, overflowing bookshelves covered in trinkets and antiques, along with candlelit window sills filled with stars.
“Greenery” (2026) • 9" x 12" • Ink and graphite on paper • About the artwork, from the artist: “Inspired by the awakening of nature after the long, cold months of winter, Bethany created 'Greenery' with thoughtful detail to the movement and feelings that spring and summer evoke. With black and white inked leaves, and swirling branches among the flying moths with their delicate wings, detailed made with graphite; the eye has plenty to see. Straying from her typical achromatic style, Bethany chose to surround her inked leaves and swirls with a vibrant shade of green that, in itself, has a movement and pattern of its own.”
