“Paul Bunyan” (2025) • 8.5" x 11" • Traditional pen and ink, and digital • About the artwork, from the artist: “Growing up surrounded by the Gothic influences of Old Milwaukee, I consumed a steady diet of folk, fairytale, fantasy, and adventure literature. My father's pension for collecting old paintings was also a source of interest and encouraged a daily regimen of artistic endeavors. My current creative approach is inspired by the artists of a bygone era, like Arthur Rackham, Kay Nielsen, Lotte Reiniger, and Edward Gorey. I tend to utilize flat theatrical staging, desaturated colors, and rich pen and ink textures to create a nostalgic tone.”
