After 12 years with the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce, longtime Senior Director of Governmental Affairs Scott Rogers has announced his retirement from the organization – and his intent to run for Eau Claire City Council President.

In a media release shared Monday, Dec. 8, Rogers – who has lived in the Chippewa Valley with his family for about 24 years – stated he his now gathering ballot signatures and intends to file his declaration for candidacy today. He will officially retire from the chamber in February 2026.

The chamber shared its own media release this morning as well with CEO and President David Minor emphasizing the organization’s longstanding commitment to nonpartisanship.

The release noted the the chamber’s clear boundaries regarding campaigning which prohibit the  “use of Chamber resources and participation at Chamber functions,” and acknowledged Rogers is aware of and in alignment with those expectations.

In Rogers’ release, he noted his longtime business experience in the Chippewa Valley, which stem back to his own small business operation prior to serving with the chamber. He has served on numerous boards and commissions, specifically in the areas of housing and transportation.

“The City has given so much to us that, as I retire from the private sector, I would like to give back to the community by using what I have learned and the contacts that I have made during that time to ensure that Eau Claire continues to be one of the best places in the country to live, work, raise a family, and own a business,” Rogers stated.

“I believe that my advocacy experience at the state and local levels over the past decade has given me the skillset and leadership tools necessary to make the goals of economic opportunity and affordability a reality in our city,” he said.

Rogers’ declaration makes him the second individual to announce their campaign for city council president, following former councilman Jeremy Gragert. Current President Emily Berge announced she will not seek re-election as she focuses on her bid for Congress.
