Spend The Weekend Shopping ‘Vintage in the Valley’
local retailers and sellers align open hours to bring antique treasure hunt to the Chippewa Valley
Have an itch only a great deal on an antique or vintage item can scratch? Join the club – ‘er, rather, hit up the Vintage in the Valley event this month!
Stretching from Dunn to Chippewa counties, the Vintage in the Valley event will feature seven individual locations ready to bust out their best finds, all on the same weekend: White Barn & Co. and Vintage Finds On 29 in Menomonie; Colfax Railroad Museum; Kristen Cooley Vintage and Sweet Salvage in Elk Mound; and Elegant Upcycle and Free Bird Emporium and Olive & Perry in Chippewa Falls.
The participating retailers and sweet spots simply got together and decided to provide a scavenger hunt-like map with each of their locations, and for all to be open on the same weekend (on an average week, each has varying hours or only pops up semi-regularly).
Coinciding with White Barn & Co.’s (E3510 State Road 29, Menomonie) fifth annual fall market, the shop will specifically curate heaps of antique and vintage-style finds for the Sept. 20-21 event. Whether you start at this location or end up there halfway through, you should be able to power up thanks to Kate’s Coffee Koop, which will be parked on-site.
Just four miles out from the City of Menomonie, Vintage Finds On 29 (E3370 WI-29, Menomonie) has also been busy curating an array of treasures ranging from woven baskets to ceramics, fabrics and quilts, home decor, and more.
The Colfax Railroad Museum (416 Main St., Colfax) is a true hidden gem in the Chippewa Valley, boasting locomotive and historic memorabilia galore.
Kristen Cooley Vintage (N6988 950th St., Elk Mound) , a pop-up location, will share repurposed antique finds, collectibles, and home decor. Also in Elk Mound, Sweet Salvage (3030 30th Ave., Elk Mound) will open up shop – only a semi-regular occurrence – and offer an abundance of items ranging from antique home decor and furniture to plants, art, and more.
Elegant Upcycle (18708 65th Ave., Chippewa Falls) will offer an abundant, curated selection of quality furniture, home decor, trinkets, and more. Free Bird Emporium and Olive & Perry (13264 132nd St., Chippewa Falls) will join forces to display upcycled furniture, jewelry, and and more goodies.
Vintage in the Valley will run from Saturday, Sept. 20-Sunday, Sept. 21 (except for Sweet Salvage, which will instead participate Sept. 19-20). You can find nearly all of the included antique sellers on Facebook to learn more.
