“Mycena Subcyanocephala” (2024) • 6" x 9 • Digital (ProCreate) by Abigail Wells • From artist: “This piece was inspired by my favorite artists, Feefal, who hosts Fungurary every year. Fungurary is a month-long art challenge involving different mushrooms and fungi as prompts for artists to get creative with. I love using these prompts to personify different mushrooms. For this piece I made the Mycena Subcyanocephala into a delicate and soft girl as I felt this would best represent the mushroom.
With my art in general, I love bringing character to everything I make. This is a huge reason why I studied animation in college. You can bring character and life to anything you want in animation! I love the freedom and flexibility I have as an animator to create anything I put my mind to."
