THIRD TIME'S THE CHARM: Third Ward Historic Home Tour Returns
tickets to Eau Claire neighborhood's third annual home tour up for grabs July 1

Can you buy an 8,000-square-foot Queen Anne home in Eau Claire for $14,500? That’s exactly what L.G. Arnold did – over a century ago. In 1921, he purchased the Carrie Foster Winslow home at 210 Oakwood Place, now known as the Foster Winslow Arnold Home.

The historic landmark, designed by architect George Franklin Barber, is one of four homes featured in the third annual Third Ward Neighborhood Association Historic Home Tour (and was the former residence of this writer's grandparents). Slated for Sunday, Aug. 10, tours will run from 2-5pm and are self-guided, though timed, so that homeowners have an even flow of attendees during the event. The last ticketed tour time is 4:15pm, finishing at 5pm.
Two of the featured homes are located on Summit Avenue, with the other two on historic Oakwood Place. Half of the homes were built in the early 1940s while the other two were built in 1889 and 1891, respectively. All have been lovingly restored and updated to make them comfortable, striking modern residences.
The neighborhood association extends a special thanks to all owners opening their homes for the tour. Tickets can be ordered online beginning July 1 and are $30/person. Ticket purchase will include a booklet and map with photos, history, and background on the featured homes.

Tickets go on sale on July 1, and can be ordered online at Eventbrite. For additional information and event updates, visit www.thirdwardeauclaire.org/events.
